Isle of Wight Geocaching Competition 2008

The 2008 competition was organised in association with the Isle of Wight Walking Festival. The competition has now closed. The competition has now closed. Well done to all the entrants who found the some or all of the letters which spelt out the mystery word. For some of the summer the Golden Hill cache was unavailable, for which we apologise. Luckily it seems as though it was possible to guess the word with one letter missing!

We may run the competition again in the future but the letters are still in the caches and so in the meantime you can solve the puzzle yourself, for fun. Inside each of the ten Isle of Wight Geocaching project caches is a single letter that together makes up a ten-letter word. If you find all ten caches you will be able to spell out the mystery word. If you really want to know the answer without going to see the caches you’ll have to do a little work. The answer is given here in ROT13 – trbpnpuvat.

The caches are hidden at the following locations:

Afton Marsh
Fort Victoria
Golden Hill Park
Nansen Hill
Northwood Park
Pinkmead
Rew Down
Rylstone Gardens
Sibden Hill
Ventnor Park
